Spring Vacation to Korea - 2016

It seems like we are on vacation all the time. For me, that's not a problem at all. We just left for our spring vacation and we're in Korea. Pat has been here several times as he taught at English camps 4 different times for 5 weeks each. This was during his summer break. It's my first time here except for a long layover.
Here are few pics of our first days here.

A stream through the city of Seoul that use to house the poor
and displaced/homeless. They turned it into this beautiful walkway.

Another view of thestream, its called Chun Gye Chun. It's a great place to walk
and get exercise.
Patrick with his new friends.

These are wraps of some sort..... hmmmm ... I just couldn't not take a photo. This is for you my "It Works" friends.

This was a cinnamon caramel bread desert. It was buttery yumminess.

This is a mung bean patty. It smelled delicious but I
haven't tried it yet. I will before we leave.

These are silk worm casings that are eaten as snacks.
These originated after the war when there was little to
eat. People continue to eat them ... I will not be trying
these.

This is for my friend Laurie who is an amazing baker. The
decor was rich and elegant and the pastries looked delectable.

Here are some cake rolls in all different flavors. A great
idea that I may have to try at home.

This bakery was in the middle of
the Shinsegae mall. I definitely want to go back and try
something here.

Beginnings & Endings

It's been a while since I last did a post regarding all that is going on here. Pat and I rode our motorbikes 3 hours north for Christmas to the  Golden Triangle, where Laos, Myanmar (Burma), and Thailand meet. We had pizza for our Christmas dinner and it was the best pizza we've had since leaving Oregon. We visited the White Temple, the Black Temple, and the Opium Museum. And no, Neil, we didn't get any for you. Here are a few of our pics.

The White Temple is manmade and spectacular.

This guy was so nice and wanted to ask me
out but Pat had to ruin it for me.
This was our hotel in the Golden Triangle ... very serene.

What a handsome hubby I have ....

Beginnings
The start of 2016 was met with excitement as Zac, our son, and Katie, wife to be, came to visit and were getting married in Phuket here in Thailand. They arrived Jan 2nd and we spent time in Bangkok and here in Chiang Mai. It was wonderful having them here to show around and to feed them tons of Thai food. Here are a few pics:
I had to throw a picture of Abbey in here.

The wedding was beautiful and Zac & Katie had 10 of their friends attend coming from the states plus about 12 family members attended as well. You couldn't have asked for a better group of friends. Here are few pics of the picturesque affair:

Endings
After seeing the kids off and heading back to Chiang Mai, I received devastating news from my home back in Georgia. My sister, Ramona, was killed in an automobile accident. I headed back to the states for the funeral and to support my niece and nephew and their families. It was the hardest trip I've made since my mother died in 2007. I was surrounded by supportive cousins, aunts, and uncles who came from afar to be there with us. I couldn't have done it without them.

Most of you don't know but my sister and I weren't very close. What I can say is, she loved her kids and grandkids. She dealt with many demons from her past and never quite overcame them. I will miss her dearly ... she knew I loved her and was there for her when she called. Please pray for her kids as they are dealing with her death and struggles of their own.

We are looking forward to coming home this summer .. can't wait to see you all.
